Community Classes
Many additional classes and seminars for all ages are offered throughout the year for the community. These include Creative Movement, Mommy and Me, Acrobatics, Contemporary Dance, Hip Hop, and Zumbatomics as well as Dancercise, Pilates, and Yoga for Adults.
Acrobatics: Students learn skills that increase flexibility, balance, and strength. Tumbling skills taught range from somersaults to aerials. Teachers utilize mats, trampolines, and balance beams in teaching the curriculum. Ages 5 and up.
Contemporary Dance: Students learn skills that increase musicality, expression, and technique. Contemporary Dance is a fun fusion of jazz, modern, and ballet technique. Ages 10 and up.
Creative Movement: One 45 minute class per week for preschool children ages 3 to 5. With a focus on encouraging creativity and developing coordination, rhythm and joy in movement, the class introduces children to elementary dance, stretching, gymnastics, and acting in a structured environment.
Dancercise: Get Fit and Have Fun! Aerobic workout to upbeat music using steps and patterns derived from modern dance. Helps improve range of motion, endurance, aerobic capacity, flexibility, and strength. Adult.
Hip Hop: Hip Hop is based on street dance and video/commercial dance. Learn rhythmic, high-energy dance movement to popular music. Ages 5 and up.
Mommy and Me: Little ones and their parents learn new skills in movement, musicality, and balance along with enjoying a high-energy time of interaction. Appropriate for boys and girls ages 1 to 3 along with an adult companion.
Pilates: Students learn to tone and strengthen the body. Pilates has an emphasis on breath and core development, combined with leg exercises, upper body and arm strengthening movements, and stretching. Pilates is appropriate for beginners as well as experts. Adults.
Yoga: Yoga is about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. In addition to practicing the poses, yoga classes may also include instruction on breathing, call and response chanting, meditation, or an inspirational reading by the teacher. Ages 7 to Adult.
Zumbatomic®: The Fitness Program It’s a fast-forward fusion of the Zumba program’s moves (salsa, cumbia, reggaeton, hip-hop and more) and high-octane workouts designed to let kids max out on fun and fitness all at the same time. Safe and effective, kids can’t wait to get into the Zumbatomic groove. Watch their energy and fitness levels soar as they get the groove. Ages 4 to 12.
